Buenos días queridos lectores
Soy Norman Augarden, fotógrafo, editor y director de la nueva revista "Modern Voices".
El lunes sale a la venta el primer número y ¡aún no tenemos la foto de portada!. ¡No puedo más!
La redacción es una locura. Somos cuatro monos y nos vamos chocando por los pasillos, con pruebas de edición, clichés, propuestas de artículos... Las máquinas de escribir echan humo y en la imprenta nos están esperando como agua de mayo para empezar a trabajar.
No sé en qué estaba pensando cuando me lié la manta a la cabeza y creé la revista.
Siempre me ha gustado escribir, y llevaba rondando la idea hace ya tiempo. Noté que había un hueco en el mercado. Sí, hay muchas revistas de moda, pero yo quería algo diferente, que además de enseñarle al lector el último modelito de París, tuviera artículos de actualidad, vida familiar, viajes, trucos e ideas para la casa... Y así nació (o está a punto de hacerlo) "Modern Voices", mi revista.
Hasta tengo un anuncio en la contraportada por el que me han pagado algo incluso. Es del taller de un primo mío. Así nos hacemos un favor mutuo.
Hoy he quedado con la madre de un par de gemelos para hacer la foto de portada. Es la primera vez que ven una cámara de fotos, no sé muy bien cómo va a ir la cosa
El artículo principal de este número versa sobre las diferencias entre niños y niñas. Pienso que unos hermanos -chico y chica- ilustran perfectamente la idea del artículo y la entrevista con su madre.
- Hola buenos días Ángela. ¿Ya están listos Mike y Sarah?
- Hola Norman. Sí, aquí están. Hemos ido de compras a por unos trajes para la ocasión. Están muy nerviosos
- ¡Qué guapos chicos!
- A mí me pica el cuello, mamá. Este traje no me gusta
- Sarah, estás preciosa hija. Ve acostumbrándote, para estar estupenda, a veces hay que sufrir...
- Jo, a mí también me pica, mamá. Es un rollo
- Mike y Sarah, a callar! y poned buena cara, que vuestra foto la va a ver muchísima gente. ¡Vais a ser famosos!
- Venga, chicos, colocaros aquí en esta escalera. Vaís a ver un fogonazo del flash, pero no os asustéis, sólo es un momento.

Good morning dear readers
I am Norman Augarden, photographer, editor and director of the new magazine "Modern Voices"
Monday is our release date. Our first issue will be out and we do not have the cover photograph, yet!!
The office ... oh! it's crazy!! We are only four, and we're bumping into eachother along the corridor. New articles, proposals, proofs, printing plates... the typewriters are giving off smoke and people at the printing are waiting for us.
What I was thinking about when I decided to create the magazine??
I've always loved writing, and I had this idea on my mind for a long time. There were a "hole" in the market. Yes, there're lots of fashion magazines, but I wanted something different, that apart from showing the last trends and hot news in Europe, would have articles about families, travel, tips and tricks, home decor... That's how Modern Voices was born (or it's about to be). My magazine
I even have some spots for advertisement. I got the first one for a garage around the corner. It's my cousin's garage, but anyway... quid pro quo...
I have a date today with a mother of twins. I will take the cover photo. It is their first time in front of a camera. I'm not sure how will it go.
The main theme for this issue is about the differences between girls and boys. I think a couple of siblings will show perfectly the idea and the interview with their mother will make a great article.
- Good morning Angela. Are you ready?
- Hi Norman. Yes, we are ready. We have been shopping and I bought these gorgeous dresses for this special ocasion. Mike and Sarah are so excited, though
- Hey kids! how are you doing? You look great!
- Mom, my neck is itchy. I don't like this dress.
- Sarah, you look beautiful. Start getting used to this. To look perfect, sometimes you have to suffer a bit.
- Mom, me too. It is itchy. I don't like it
- Mike, Sarah, shut up! Be steady and smile. Your photo will be seen everywhere. You're going to become famous!
- Come on kids. Sit down here on the stairs. You will see a flash light, but don't be afraid. It's just a moment.
- Are you ready? one, two, three. SAY CHEESE!
¿Has estado alguna vez en un mercadillo y tener una extraña sensación al mirar fotos del año de la polca?. A veces, hay alguna pista de la historia de esas personas, la ciudad, el nombre del fotógrafo, alguna dedicatoria detrás, pero ya está. ¿Ya esta? desconocidos y olvidados sin nombre y sin historia.
Así funciona:
- Vicki, Cat, Martha, Nat y yo, nos hemos comprometido durante un año a darles una historia a 12 fotos de los "Whatevers" que hemos elegido.
- Cada mes - a ser posible el día 15- cada una de nosotras subirá un proyecto artístico con su historia particular para la foto elegida ese mes.
- Si te apetece, puedes "jugar con nosotras". Tendremos la foto del mes disponible para descargar y así puedas enseñarnos tu versión de los Whatevers. La foto la pondremos al final de nuestros respectivos post en los blogs - no en facebook.
- No hay normas para la historia que cuentes - puede ser divertida, triste, impresionante, desgarradora... Lo que sea.
- No hay normas en la duración o forma de la historia - puede ser una simple frase, un ensayo, un poema, un culebrón... lo que sea.
- No hay normas para el tipo de trabajo artístico que hagas - puede ser una página de scrapbook, un proyecto alterado, una página de artjournal... lo que sea.
- Aunque SI hay una norma: Si te bajas la foto, tienes que enlazarnos y enseñarnos tu historia.
- Estas fotos son de nuestra colección particular y son exclusivamente para uso personal. Si quieres utilizarlas para una publicación, ya sea un libro, una revista tanto impresa como digital, por favor, pídenos permiso.
- Si quieres participar, tendremos un enlace de inlinkz para cada post de los whatevers.

Have you ever been to a flea market and then had this weird sensation of those faces from long ago times looking at you? Sometimes you find a little trace of the history on those photos, the name and city of the photographer, a scribbled note or year on the back of the photo…but that is it. There is no more ….Really…no more? They are forgotten as long as they have no name and no story…
Here is how it works
- Vicki, Cat, Nat, Martha and I have made a one-year commitment to each other and picked twelve photos with Whatevers whom we will give a story.
- Every month – if possible always on the 15th – each of us will do a post with an individual story that goes along for us with the same photo.
- If you want you can play along and we will have the photo for you to download and show us your version of The Whatevers. The photo will be posted at the end of our blogposts- not on Facebook!
- There is no rules to the story itself- it can be funny, sad, uplifting, breathtaking- WHATEVER
- There is no rules on the length or the form of the story- it can be a short sentence, an essay, a poem or a soap opera – WHATEVER
- There is no rules on the artform you choose – it can be a scrapbook layout, an altered art project, an artjournal page – WHATEVER
- Here is a rule though: if you take the photo you have to link back to us and show us your story.
- These pictures are from our personal stash and are for personal use for you only! If you want to use them for a publication whether a book or magazine in print or digital form please ask for permission!
