I was a neurotic for years.
Anxious, depressed, selfish.
And everyone kept telling me to change.
And I resented them, and agreed with them, and wanted to change, but simply couldn’t, no matter how I tried.
What hurt the most was that, like the others, my closest friend kept urging me to change.

Prólogo / Welcome

El tema que elegí para mi Sketchbook fue "En 5 minutos".
Los temas están totalmente abiertos a nuestra interpretación.
Mi planteamiento es incluir en cada una de las páginas una cita que nos haga pensar, aunque sólo sean 5 minutos.
Esta primera página es la presentación del cuaderno.

I chose "In 5 minutes" as my theme for the Sketchbook.
All themes are open to interpretation.
I want to include in each page, a quote that make the readers to think about, just for only 5 minutes.
This is my first page, the welcome page.

SBP 2011 - Deconstructing my moleskine

Esta tarde me he dedicado a desencuadernar la moleskine para el Sketchbook Project 2011.
Quitar la costura ha sido fácil. Para proteger la portada, en los agujeros que han dejado las puntadas, he puesto un par de tiras de cinta de carrocero.
Cogiendo una de las hojas interiores como modelo, he recortado papel de acuarela, más adecuado para el tipo de trabajo que quiero hacer.
He hecho 3 signaturas de 3 páginas cada una
He cubierto la portada con tela vaquera. Primero la he pegado con modge podge y luego la he cosido por los bordes varias veces, dejando el hueco para el código de barras
Un poco de masking, gesso, spray y unos cuantos sellos y lista la portada.
He cosido las signaturas a la portada y ya solo me queda empezar a rellenar.

I've been re-binding the moleskine, since the pages are so thin for the work I plan to make.
I cut the stitching and put a strip of tape over the holes, to protect the cover.
I cut my new watercolour pages to the proper size and made 3 signatures with 3 pages each.
I covered the cover with jeans fabric. I firstly glued with modge podge and then stitched the edges twice, giving space to the bar code.
I stitched the signatures to the cover and that's it. Ready to be filled.

Sketchbook Project 2011

Esto es lo que me espera los próximos meses.

28.594 artistas de 94 países

Todos hemos recibido una libreta moleskine. El objetivo es "rellenarla" siguiendo el tema elegido de una lista. Mi tema es "5 minutos". La devolvemos antes de mediados de enero y se va de gira por Estados Unidos. Después pasará a formar parte permanentemente de la biblioteca de Arte de Brooklyn.

Lo mejor es que cada moleskine lleva un código de barras y podremos saber en todo momento dónde está o quién le ha echado un vistazo.

Un proyecto espectacular del que estoy encantada de formar parte.

De momento, voy a re-encuadernarla, porque las hojas son demasiado finas para todo lo que le pienso "meter".

Ya os iré enseñando los progresos.

What's the sketchbook project 2011?

Thousands of sketchbooks will be exhibited at galleries and museums as they make their way on tour across the country.
After the tour, all sketchbooks will enter into the permanent collection of The Brooklyn Art Library, where they will be barcoded and available for the public to view.
28594 artists from 94 countries around the world are participating. The tour starts February, 2011.

Totally exciting. And I'm part of it :)

I'll start re-binding the sketchbook, as the pages are way too much thin.
