WHATEVERS II - CLIFFHANGER

- María, ¿ya estas lista? ¿Me puedes traer mis gemelos de oro blanco, por favor? Están en el vestidor, en el segundo cajón de la derecha, en el joyero tallado. 
- Siempre igual... acabo yo antes de vestirme que él. ¿raro, no? Ya llevo 10 min. esperando y aun está a medias... hombres!!! - En el segundo cajón de la derecha.. en el joyero. Voy.... ¡Mierda! ¡qué torpe! se me ha caido el joyero. Espero que no se haya roto... - ¿Qué es esto? Parece una caja de nácar, pero no lleva cierre. ¿cómo se abrirá? 
- María! ¿Me traes los gemelos? llegaremos tarde! 
- Voy!!

- Estoy agotado. Me ducho y me voy al sobre. Esto de la sonrisa profiden y saludar a todo el mundo puede conmigo. 
- Yo no estoy agotada, qué va... 3 horas con unos tacones de 10 cm. son como un ligero masaje en las pantorrillas. Yo me doy un baño de cleopatra y si no me quedo dormida en la bañera, no será por falta de ganas. 

Pero antes... 

- Jo, no consigo abrir la cajita. A ver así... si, parece que... chas! bingo!! 
- ¿qué demon...? un colgante... un niño?? Tiene algo escrito por detrás... "Recuerda"

- Buenos días cariño, he dormido como un lirón ¿y tu? 
- No he pegado ojo en toda la noche. ¿qué es esto? 
- Ah, eso... ¿lo has encontrado? 
- No ha sido difícil, estaba en tu joyero. Se me cayó ayer al coger los gemelos y apareció en una cajita de nácar. ¿quién es ese niño? 
- Ya, bueno... quizá hay un par de cosas que debería contarte... Es mi hijo... 

¿Quieres acabar tú la historia? Adelante. Esta es la última entrega de los Whatevers. Espero que hayáis disfrutado con nosotras y nuestras historias. Muchas gracias por habernos acompañados.

- Mary! are you ready? Could you please bring my golden cufflinks? They are in the wardrobe, second drawer on the right, in the wood carved jewelry box. 
- It's always the same... I'm always ready first. weird, right? I'm waiting here for 10 min. and he's still in underwear... men!! - second drawer..., jewelry box... ok here it is. ohhhh.... shit! What a fool, the box slipped out of my hands. I hope it's not broken... wait... what is this? It's like a pearl box. I cannot open it.. what's...? 
- Mary!!! the cufflinks... !!! We will be late!!! 
- Ok. I'm coming!!

- I'm exhausted... I'll have a shower and off to bed. Good night honey 
- oh, well... I'm not tired out after being on 10 cm. high heels all night long.. no. I'll have a Cleopatra's bath before going to bed. 

But before... 

- ouch, I cannot open the box. Let's see this way.. yes, it's like... bingo!! 
- What the h***?? a pendant... a little boy? There's something written on the back... "Remember"

- Good morning honey, I slept like a log. And you? 
- I haven´t slept a wink all night. What is this? 
- Oh.. this.. have you found it, then? 
- It's not been difficult. It was in your jewelry box. It slipped out of my fingers when I was looking for your cufflinks and I saw the little pearl box. Who is this boy? 
- Oh.. well... maybe I should tell you a couple of things... He is my son...

Vicki, Cat, Martha, Nat y yo, nos hemos comprometido durante un año a darles una historia a 12 fotos de los "Whatevers" que hemos elegido.
Cada mes - a ser posible el día 15- cada una de nosotras subirá un proyecto artístico con su historia particular para la foto elegida ese mes.
Si te apetece, puedes "jugar con nosotras". Tendremos la foto del mes disponible para descargar y así puedas enseñarnos tu versión de los Whatevers. La foto la pondremos al final de nuestros respectivos post en los blogs - no en facebook.
No hay normas para la historia que cuentes - puede ser divertida, triste, impresionante, desgarradora... Lo que sea.
No hay normas en la duración o forma de la historia - puede ser una simple frase, un ensayo, un poema, un culebrón... lo que sea.
No hay normas para el tipo de trabajo artístico que hagas - puede ser una página de scrapbook, un proyecto alterado, una página de artjournal... lo que sea.
Aunque SI hay una norma: Si te bajas la foto, tienes que enlazarnos y enseñarnos tu historia.
Estas fotos son de nuestra colección particular y son exclusivamente para uso personal. Si quieres utilizarlas para una publicación, ya sea un libro, una revista tanto impresa como digital, por favor, pídenos permiso.

Here is how it works
Vicki, Cat, Nat, Martha and I have made a one-year commitment to each other and picked twelve photos with Whatevers whom we will give a story.
Every month – if possible always on the 15th –  each of us will do a post with an individual story that goes along for us with the same photo.
If you want you can play along and we will have the photo for you to download and show us your version of The Whatevers. The photo will be posted at the end of our blogposts- not on Facebook!
There is no rules to the story itself- it can be funny, sad, uplifting, breathtaking- WHATEVER
There is no rules on the length or the form of the story- it can be a short sentence, an essay, a poem or a soap opera – WHATEVER
There is no rules on the artform you choose – it can be a scrapbook layout, an altered art project, an artjournal page – WHATEVER
Here is a rule though: if you take the photo you have to link back to us and show us your story.

Hoy he quedado con 5 "bombones" para hacer la foto de portada. Me voy a la playa, allí la luz es espectacular y la foto quedará estupenda. 

- ¡Chicas! Ya estoy aquí 

- Josh, ya era hora. Llevamos un buen rato esperando, y no hace tanto calor como para estar en "paños menores". Mira la cara de mala uva que se le ha puesto a Nat. 

- No es cara de mala uva, Cat. Es que me da el sol de frente. Ya sabes que yo rara vez me enfado. 

- Venga chicas. Lo siento, me he entretenido en la redacción revisando unos artículos. A ver, colocaos. Cat, tu a la izquierda, junto a Martha. 

- Martha, sonríe un poco, mujer. Que estás estupenda con tu traje a rayas. 

- Cuchy ¿y de qué te ríes? colócate el cinturón, que lo llevas caído y ponte en medio. 

- Vic, tú a su lado. Súbete un poco la falda, que la has dejado muy larga. 

- Nat, tú a la derecha. ¿Estamos listos? 

Una, dos y tres. PA-TA-TA 

I have a date today with 5 pin-up girls for the cover pic. I'm off to the beach. The light is awesome there, so the photo shot will be great. 

- Hey girls, I'm already here!  I'm sorry, I've been proofing some articles in the office and it held me up. 

- Oh, Josh! it was about time! we're waiting for ages, and it is not too hot to be half-dressed. Look at Nat's face, she looks so grumpy! 

- Hey, I'm not grumpy. It's only the sun. The light is blinding me! You know, I'm so lovely... most of the time 

- Come on girls! Let's work! 

- Martha, show us your smile, hon. You look fabulous with that stripped dress. 

- Cuchy, put your belt in place and stand in the middle. 

- Vic. Next to her. And lift your dress a bit. It's quite long. 

- Nat, you on the right. Are we ready??

El: ¿Falta mucho cariño?
Ella: Creo que no. Deja al chico, que sabe lo que se hace con esa cámara de fotos del demonio.
El: uffff, lleva nosecuántos fogonazos ya. Estoy deseando que acabe.
Ella: Ah, si? y ¿que piensas hacer después?
El: uhmmmm tengo algunas ideas para celebrar nuestro aniversario.
Ella: ¿me vas a llevar a cenar? ¿y luego a bailar?
El: Pensaba hacer yo la cena. Y un postre con canela y fresas, que sé que te encanta.
Ella: Ese postre seguro que lleva segundas intenciones.
El: Y terceras... ve preparándote para una noche larga
Ella: Yo estoy lista... prepárate tú :)
El: chico!! se acabó la sesión de fotos por hoy. - Cariño, tú primero por favor.

Por fin ha llegado el día.

Tanta preparación, tanto ensayo, el cansancio, las risas... ha llegado el momento de demostrar que hemos sido y somos los mejores.

Una coreografía moderna, fresca, acompasada.

Un vestuario elegante, conjuntado, cómodo... Ohhh esos sombreros (ironic mode off)

Un público entregado a nuestro arte... sirviendo platos como camareros

Nos lo hemos ganado. Somos el mejor equipo del mes. Y seguiremos siendolo.

The preparations, rehearsals, tiredness, laughings... this is the moment to show who we are. We were and we are the best

Spring Party - Whatevers II

 



 

We're having a freaking cold Winter in NYC

 

Everything is whiteeeeeeeeeee, which is great, I love the snow, but while I'm at home in front of a warm fireplace.

 

Last week, my cousin Gertrud invited me to a spring party. Yes, spring in the middle of February. Oh, Gertrud...

 

She is the most crazy and adorable girl I know. She always has a beautiful smile for everyone and everyone loves her.

 

I went to the party like an onion, with 8 layers of clothes over a light linen suit, dressed for the spring theme.

 

People danced all around. My cousin organized the room in different themed zones. Dancing, nibbling (is that a Word??) games... she even put a grass carpet where to do a picnic!!

 

After dancing we started to play games. We were 3 groups and each of us had a bag with lots of things. A pillow, a pijama, colourful balls, felt, socks.. We should do something creative with those articles. A frame, a toy, a book... whatever. The funniest one would win the big prize.

 

Can you guess who won?? Gertrud's group, of course. Look at her smiling face. Isn't she lovely with that "snowman"? She even danced with "him"

 

As always, Gertrud's parties are the best. Here's to you Gertrud!!

 

 

Vaya mesecito de frio que estamos pasando en NYC
Toooooodo blanco. Que está genial para verlo desde la ventana de casa junto al calor de la chimenea, pero cuando toca salir a la calle....

La semana pasada me invitaron a un baile de primavera. Si, si. de primavera en pleno mes de febrero. ¿a quién se le ocurre? pues a mi prima Gertrud.

Está como un cencerro. Es la loca de la familia, pero una loca encantadora. Siempre tiene una sonrisa en la cara y una mirada chispeante que te hace quererla sin contemplaciones.

Allí me planté, con 8 capas de cebolla, sobre un trajecito de lino, acorde con el tema de la fiesta.

La música ya estaba sonando y los invitados estaban de lo más animados. Mi prima había recolocado su salón con distintas zonas tematizadas. La zona de baile, de guateque, de juegos... Si hasta puso césped artificial y mantas para hacer un pequeño picnic!!

Despues de los bailes y la merienda llegó la hora de los juegos. Nos repartieron en grupos y nos dieron un hatillo con un montón de cosas. Una almohada, un pijama de rayas, bolas de colores, fieltro, calcetines... Debíamos hacer algo creativo con esos materiales. Un cuadro, un juguete, un libro... lo que fuera. El más divertido se llevaría el premio.

 

¿Queréis saber quién ganó? el grupo de Gertrud, por supuesto. Mirad qué cara de felicidad con su muñeco de nieve :) Si hasta se marcó un baile con él y todo.

 

Como siempre, las fiestas de Gertrud, son las mejores. Brindo por ella

 



 

The Whatevers es un proyecto creativo y literario creado por Cat Scanlon, Vicki Chrisman y Nathalie Kalbach en 2012. Este año,  Martha Richardson y yo, nos unimos al equipo

¿Has estado alguna vez en un mercadillo y tener una extraña sensación al mirar fotos del año de la polca?. A veces, hay alguna pista de la historia de esas personas, la ciudad, el nombre del fotógrafo, alguna dedicatoria detrás, pero ya está. ¿Ya esta? desconocidos y olvidados sin nombre y sin historia.

Así funciona:

• Vicki, Cat, Martha, Nat y yo, nos hemos comprometido durante un año a darles una historia a 12 fotos de los "Whatevers" que hemos elegido.
• Cada mes - a ser posible el día 15- cada una de nosotras subirá un proyecto artístico con su historia particular para la foto elegida ese mes.
• Si te apetece, puedes "jugar con nosotras". Tendremos la foto del mes disponible para descargar y así puedas enseñarnos tu versión de los Whatevers. La foto la pondremos al final de nuestros respectivos post en los blogs - no en facebook.
• No hay normas para la historia que cuentes - puede ser divertida, triste, impresionante, desgarradora... Lo que sea.
• No hay normas en la duración o forma de la historia - puede ser una simple frase, un ensayo, un poema, un culebrón... lo que sea.
• No hay normas para el tipo de trabajo artístico que hagas - puede ser una página de scrapbook, un proyecto alterado, una página de artjournal... lo que sea.
• Aunque SI hay una norma: Si te bajas la foto, tienes que enlazarnos y enseñarnos tu historia.
• Estas fotos son de nuestra colección particular y son exclusivamente para uso personal. Si quieres utilizarlas para una publicación, ya sea un libro, una revista tanto impresa como digital, por favor, pídenos permiso.
• Si quieres participar, tendremos un enlace de inlinkz para cada post de los whatevers.

The Whatevers – is a creative story telling project founded by Cat Scanlon, Vicki Chrisman and Nathalie Kalbach in 2012. This year, also  Martha Richardson and me joined the team.

Have you ever been to a flea market and then had this weird sensation of those faces from long ago times looking at you? Sometimes you find a little trace of the history on those photos, the name and city of the photographer, a scribbled note or year on the back of the photo…but that is it. There is no more ….Really…no more? They are forgotten as long as they have no name and no story…

Here is how it works

• Vicki, Cat, Nat, Martha and I have made a one-year commitment to each other and picked twelve photos with Whatevers whom we will give a story.
• Every month – if possible always on the 15th –  each of us will do a post with an individual story that goes along for us with the same photo.
• If you want you can play along and we will have the photo for you to download and show us your version of The Whatevers. The photo will be posted at the end of our blogposts- not on Facebook!
• There is no rules to the story itself- it can be funny, sad, uplifting, breathtaking- WHATEVER
• There is no rules on the length or the form of the story- it can be a short sentence, an essay, a poem or a soap opera – WHATEVER
• There is no rules on the artform you choose – it can be a scrapbook layout, an altered art project, an artjournal page – WHATEVER
• Here is a rule though: if you take the photo you have to link back to us and show us your story.
• These pictures are from our personal stash and are for personal use for you only! If you want to use them for a publication whether a book or magazine in print or digital form please ask for permission!
