Welcome to San Francisco

Acabamos de volver de un viaje inesperado a San Francisco.

Les pregunté a mis hijos: "¿Viaje a centro Europa estas Navidades o nos vamos ahora a San Francisco y nos quedamos sin vacaciones de Navidad?. Su repuesta fue una mirada excéptica... ¿y lo tienes que preguntar?"

Surgió la oportunidad y lo planeamos sobre la marcha.

Para variar, esta vez no me pararon en inmigración en USA, pero me tocó "registro aleatorio" en la escala en Zurich, que para el caso...

Ha sido un viaje genial. Ajetreado, con pérdida de teléfono incluida y viaje en tren a Sunnyvale para recuperarlo. Agotador de lo que hemos andado y pedaleado. Impresionante por las vistas de la bahía y de la ciudad. Divertido por las anécdotas y lo que nos hemos reído. Y caro, carísimo en todos los sentidos.

Me llevé mi "travel journal" y las acuarelas para aprovechar las tropecientas horas de avión que nos esperaban. A la ida, hice alguna página entre película y película, pero a la vuelta veníamos tan agotados que ni saqué los trastos de la mochila. Así que aprovecharé este puente para pintar y recordar estos días tan estupendos.

We've just come back from an unexpected trip to San Francisco.

I asked my children: What do you prefer, a trip to Central Europe this Christmas or a trip to San Francisco right now, but no Christmas trip? They looked at me with their raised brows... and do you need to ask?

So, we had the chance and we took it.

This time, I got lucky and they did not stop me at the inmigration office in the USA, but I was "random checked" at Zurich control so... same thing, different control desk.

It's been a great trip. Hectic, incluiding a lost cell phone and a train trip to Sunnyvale to get it back. Exhausting, because we walked and pedal like crazy. Awesome because of the bay and city views. Funny, we laughed out loud a lot. And expensive, very expensive in every single way.

I took my travel journal and the watercolors with the idea of painting while flying. I did a couple of drawings on the way to SFO, but on the way back, we were so exhausted that I couldn't take the colors from the backpack. So, I will take this weekend to paint and remember these awesome days.
