Los viernes, crop / Friday's crop

En tu casa… y en la mía.

Como sabéis, el viernes pasado estuve de pruebas en mi página de facebook, para emitir en directo desde mi “scraprUm”.

Pilar, Ceci, Judit y alguna otra que se asomó pero no quiso saludar ;) probamos en directo y la verdad es que nos gustó la experiencia. El video se ve y se oye bastante bien y yo, a la vez que trabajo puedo leer vuestros comentarios y contestar “de viva voz”

Así que he decidido instaurar “Los viernes, crop”

Todos los viernes que pueda conectaré por la noche (a partir de las 23.00 hs. GMT+1) desde aquí. Trabajaré en algún proyecto o técnica en concreto que os anunciaré ese mismo día y estáis todos invitados a acompañarme, charlar, preguntar y pasar un rato divertido.

No es necesario registrarse. Aunque te agradecería que hicieras check-in desde la misma página para poder participar en el chat y hacer la experiencia más interactiva.

Por otra parte, es posible que entre semana me encuentres trabajando por las noches, ya que tendré la cámara conectada a ratos.

Live from my scraproom via Facebook

As you may know, last Friday I was testing a new feature in my facebook’s page (livestream tab) A streaming video from my house.

Some of you joined me to check how it worked. The video and sound was quite good and the chat is a great feature. While I’m working I can read your messages and reply “viva voce”

So I’m glad to announce the release of “Friday’s crop”.

As much Fridays as I can, I will connect via my page -livestream tab- (from 23.00 hs. GMT+1) with all of you. I will be working on an ongoing project or technique that I’ll tell you that day. All of you are invited to join me, chat, ask questions and have fun.

It’s not necessary to log-in. But I’d be glad if you check-in from the same page and take part in the chat, to make the experience more interactive.

On the other side, you can probably see me along the week, on nights, working in my scraproom, because I’ll have the webcam connected from time to time.

Texturas en Madera / Textures on wood

Tenía rondando por casa 4 maderas que venían como parte del embalaje de una estantería de IKEA y como buena Diógenes, los guardé a la espera de darles uso.

Después de probar las plantillas de Crafter's Workshop en esta página de mi art journal con la pasta de stencil, decidí usarlas con las maderas y este es el resultado.

Me ha gustado tanto, que ya las tengo puestas en la pared de mi "ScraprUm"

I had 4 wood blocks from the package of one of my IKEA shelves. I saved them for a next project.

After trying the Crafter's Workshop's templates in this artjournal page with the stencil paste, I decided to use them to alter the wood blocks. This is what I came up with.

I loved them so much that they're just hanging on the wall.

AJED # 8 - Luz / Light

Me gusta la luz, pero la noche... tiene su "aquel" :)

Amiga invisible / A belated Secret santa

Pues casi un mes después de Navidad, hemos conseguido ponernos de acuerdo para darnos el regalito de amiga invisible. Y aun así, una de nosotras no pudo venir.

Almost a month after... we exchanged our secret santa gift.

Este año quedamos en que podía ser algo comprado o hecho a mano.

This year, we can handmade it or buy it.

Yo he optado por las dos cosas. He alterado una maletita de cartón con papel decoupage y pinturas lumiere. El adornito lo hice con friendly plastic y un molde redondo.

I choose both. I altered a cardboard suitcase and I filled it with a set of rubber stamps mounted on cristal

Dentro de la maleta, 6 sellos de caucho montados en metacrilato. Más monos... Yo me he comprado otros para mí :)

A mi amiga le gustó (o eso dice) y se quedó hasta con el envoltorio :)

Una funda de libro. Yo la voy a usar para forrar un art journal.

¿A que es una pasada? Está toda bordada, requetebien terminada y con muchos detallitos.

Los Reyes me han traido un maletín de pinturas y tenía ganas de estrenar la espátula con la pasta de stencil. La plantilla es de Crafters Workshop y he decidido que necesito más, porque me encantan. Ahora queda la peor parte... Esperar a que se seque. (sigue leyendo)

The 3 wise men brought me a paint's box and I couldn't wait to use the palette knife with the stencil paste I decided that I need more of these templates from Crafter's Workshop. I love them! Now the worst part... Waiting for the paste to dry. (see below)

I love the background so much, so I wrote my journaling around the texture, without adding anything more.

AJED #5 - Here comes the sun

Hoy ha sido uno de esos días de invierno con un sol espléndido, que me ha hecho recordar por qué me gusta tanto vivir aquí.
En muchas ocasiones, hemos hablado de cuál sería nuestro lugar ideal y, a pesar de que hay muchos países que nos gustan, nada como vivir en España, por su sol, su clima, su comida y su buena gente.
Y es que España, ¡es diferente! :)

Today was a beautiful sunny and warm winter day, that made me remind why I love living here so much.
We have talked several times about which would be our ideal place to live and, despite there're so many countries we like a lot, we love to live in Spain, because of its sun, weather, food and kind people.
You know, Spain is different!

El fondo está hecho con cera, glimmer mist, y pasteles acuarelables.
La muñeca la ha dibujado mi hija Marta y me encanta.
Le está pillando el tranquillo al shoujo

Además de la cita, mi texto está escrito en blanco, en la página de la muñeca, de modo que sólo se lee cuando le da la luz de lado. Me gusta.

I made the background with wax, glimmer mist and water soluble oil pastels.
My daughter Marta drew the girl and I painted with pastels. I love it
She is in "shoujo mode" right now.

My journaling is in the page of the girl written with white gel pen and it is only readable when the light comes from one side. I like it.

Art Mesa Madrid 2011 - Talleres / Workshop

La mayoría sabéis que una de mis artistas favoritas es Nathalie Kalbach.

Desde que la conocí en un taller online y después en persona, en Barcelona, he seguido sus trabajos y sus técnicas.

Como artista de mixed media, su estilo colorido y su aplicación de todo tipo de técnicas y recursos me encanta y por encima de todo, es una bellísima persona.

Por eso, cuando me comentó en un correo medio en broma, medio en serio, que podíamos hacer juntas un taller en Madrid, no me lo pensé y le contesté: vale ¿hablamos en serio?

Y de esa conversación ha salido Art Mesa Madrid 2011, una jornada de talleres mixed media con Nat y conmigo el próximo 4 de junio, sábado, en Tres Cantos, Madrid.

Hemos creado un blog con toda la información sobre los talleres y que podéis encontrar aquí.

Las plazas son muy limitadas, así que si te apetece pasar una jornada artística y divertida, no te lo pienses mucho y anímate.

Tanto Nat como yo estamos muy ilusionadas con esta “aventura” y encantadas de compartirla con vosotras.

Most of you know that one of my favourite artists is Nathalie Kalbach.

Since I knew her, in an online workshop and later, IRL in Barcelona in one of her workshops, I followed her work and artistic techniques.

As a mixed media artist, I love her colourful style and how she applies all kind of techniques and resources. And on top of everything else, she is a wonderful person.

That’s why, when she replied one of my emails and told me –half serious- that we could do a workshop in Madrid together, I didn’t think twice and told her: “ok, let’s talk seriously”.

From that chat Art Mesa Madrid 2011 has born. A whole day of mixed media workshops with Nat and myself next june 4th, saturday in Tres Cantos, Madrid.

Seats are limited, so if you are interested and want to spend a creative and funny day with us, come and join in.

Both, Nat and myself are thrilled with this adventure and so glad to share it with you.

3 de enero, vuelta al curro después de las vacaciones.
Mis impresiones sobre el trabajo quedan ocultas bajo una capa de color wash y acrílicos en una página más alegre. Para que me anime, más que nada :)

I wrote in the background my personal sentiments about my work.
They remain hidden behind some colour washes and blooms in a more colourful layer.

Esperando a los Reyes / Waiting for the 3 wise men

Será una noche larga. No hay quien los meta en la cama.

Así que para tranquilizarles un poco, han hecho ellos mismos unos colgantes con tintas de alcohol.
Parece que ha funcionado. Al menos, ya están en la cama.

It will be a loooong night. The three wise men are coming and the kids are too excited to sleep.

To calm them down, they did their own pendant with alcohol inks.

It worked! At least they are already in bed :)

AJE #2 Nieve / Snow

Ayer fue un día muy divertido.
Subimos a la sierra aprovechando que había algo de nieve.
Literalmente fuimos a hacer el ganso con el trineo y a comer como es debido
Igual que hace 36 años, cuando subíamos con toda la pandilla de Guadarrama.
Ese recuerdo se merecía una página en mi diario de hoy.
Apenas se aprecia en la foto, pero el fondo está estampado con copos de nieve y embossing blanco.

We had a great and funny day yesterday.
We spent the day playing with the snow.
Exactly the same as I used to do 36 years ago.
That memory worths a page on my journal.
It's difficult to see in the picture, but the background is stamping and embossed with white snowflakes.
