Necesitáis un sellito? / Do you need a little rubber stamp?

La Standard Oil of Ohio (comprada posteriormente por BP, que se fusionó con Amoco), encargó en 1985 a Claes Oldenburg un sello de oficina de 28 pies de alto y 48 de largo.

Previsto inicialmente para instalar frente a sus oficinas centrales, la compañía cambió de responsables antes de su terminación.

Al nuevo jefe no le importaba nada el sello con la palabra FREE y lo envió a un almacén en Whiting, Indiana.

Standard Oil of Ohio (later purchased by BP, which merged with Amoco) commissioned artist Claes Oldenburg to create the 28-ft tall, 48-ft long steel office stamp in 1985.

Intended for [installation in front of] their Euclid Avenue headquarters, the company had a change of management before its completion.

The new boss didn't care much for a gigantic rubber stamp with the word "FREE" on it, so it was put in storage in a warehouse in Whiting, Indiana.

Allí estuvo 7 años. En 1991, BP/Amoco, ofreció donarlo a Cleveland como pieza de arte urbano.

La ciudad declinó la oferta amablemente, con la excusa de no tener fondos para la instalación y el mantenimiento.

Amoco ofreció hacer todo el trabajo gratis. El resto es historia. Curioso, ¿no?

There it sat for seven years. In 1991, BP/Amoco offered to donate it to Cleveland as a grand piece of public art.

The city politely refused, noting that they didn't have the funds to install or maintain it.

Amoco offered to do the whole job for "FREE" -- and the rest is rubber stamp history.

La madera del interior del armario es oscura y ocupa toda una pared, así que creo que le irá bien.

ATC swap con Gio

Os quiero presentar a una ciberamiga italiana, Gio.

Es una artista que combina un montón de técnicas en sus trabajos. Busca materiales alternativos y consigue unos resultados espectaculares.

Estos días hemos hecho un intercambio de ATCs y acabo de recibir su paquete.

No he podido subir las fotos desde el pc de campaña de la cocina, pero os pongo las que subió ella a su blog.

Esta ATC es mullida. Es un lienzo estampado y pintado con máscaras. El detalle del corazón es una monada.

Además, me envía un marcapáginas chulísimo, también en lienzo con la misma técnica y una foto vintage que tanto me gustan. Y unos retales de encaje para jugar.

Si queréis un poquito de inspiración, pasaros por su blog. Seguro que os engancha.

She is an eclectic artist who knows very well how to combine lots of techniques in her works. She's always looking for alternative materiales and original techniques with awesome results.

These days, we swapped an ATC and I just received hers.

I cannot upload the pics from this temporary PC in the kitchen ;) but I borrowed her pics from her blog.

This ATC is stuffed. It's a canvas sprayed using masking technique. The heart is a beautiful detail.

Besides, she sent me a bookmark also made from fabric and a lovely image and some lace scraps to play with.

Scrap pop-up

El sábado, por fin, me quité el mono de talleres y disfruté de lo lindo en Scrap Pop-up con Irene y Mireia y su album Pink.
Aprendimos a hacer unas flores chulísimas, y nos ensuciamos un rato y sobre todo, nos reimos y compartimos muy buenos momentos.
No tengo ninguna foto, pero Alicia ha puesto unas cuantas en su blog. No os lo perdáis. Así os animáis a venir al próximo.
Muchas gracias a Irene (deScrapbooking) por organizar un evento pionero en España, combinando el scrap y la fotografía. Un encuentro diferente de lo que vemos en Madrid y con mucho potencial. Desde aquí, la animo a que siga organizando talleres y encuentros creativos con artistas de toda España.
Muchas gracias Mireia por venir hasta Madrid cargada de ideas interesantes y unos kits preciosos con los que "jugar". Fue un taller muy interesante y divertido. Espero compartir más momentos como estos aquí, allí, o donde sea.
