Fondo con rodillo / Brayer background

Noe me trajo ayer un nuevo rodillo y no me he aguantado las ganas para empezar a jugar. He hecho una nueva ATC utilizando el fondo que he creado con el rodillo y plástico de burbujas. Comenzamos con unas gotas de pintura acrílica sobre una cartulina blanca

My friend Noe gave me yesterday a new brayer and I couldn't wait to start playing with it. I made a new ATC using my fave background technique with bubble wrap. I started with a few drops of acrylic paint in a white cardstock.

Extendemos la pintura con el rodillo en todas las direcciones

Then start to spread the paint with the brayer in different directions

Seguir añadiendo pintura extendiéndola con el rodillo hasta que consigamos un fondo que nos guste.

Continue adding drops of paint and spreading them with the brayer until the cardstock is completely covered.

Envolvemos el rodillo con plástico de burbujas y lo cubrimos con pintura acrílica que previamente habremos extendido en una paleta o similar. Pintamos sobre nuestro fondo teniendo en cuenta que cuanto más rápido pasemos el rodillo, más fina se notará la textura.

Now, the fun part. Cover the brayer with bubble wrap (bubbles outside) and pour some paint in a palette. I used a plastic lid and white colour.Cover the bubbles with the paint. And start painting over your background The quicker you roll the brayer, the thinner will be the print.

He recortado el fondo a tamaño ATC y lo he decorado con un sello de Stamp-it, al que he aplicado polvos de embossing.

I cut the background to an ATC size and finally embellished with an embossed stamp from Stamp-it

A moment captured - ATC - Faux metal

Hoy he probado a dar un aspecto metálico y envejecido a una cartulina con relieve utilizando pintura acrílica y lija. Me gusta el resultado. La base, para aquellas que no tengais una máquina de "embossing", es un trozo de papel de pared. :) ATC disponible para intercambiar

I've been playing with an embossed wallpaper to give it a faux metalic and aged look. I like how it turned out. Hope you like it too. ATC available for trading.

Mini album - Work in progress

Hola. el otro día compré un mini cuaderno de papel de acuarela (10 x 15) que vi perfecto para hacer un mini artjournal con mis frases y citas favoritas. Esta primera es de la Madre Teresa. La cartulina lleva una base de pasta relieve, pintura acrílica, dabbers, maya mist para la máscara... un poco de todo. El sello es de Stamp-it y lo estampé de nuevo en papel vegetal al que pinté con tintas de alcohol. El texto está impreso en papel adhesivo transparente. Espero que os guste. Gracias por la visita.

Hi all, I recently bought a mini watercolour book which I found perfect for my favourite quotes. This first one is from Mother Teresa. The base cardstock has been covered with textured paste, acrylics, dabbers, maya mist over the mask... a little bit of this and that. The butterfly stamp is from Stamp-it and it's stamped also over vellum which I coloured with alcohol inks. The quote is printed onto transparent adhesive paper. Hope you like it. Tarjeta de cumpleaños - Have "FAN" birthday card

Tenía ganas de probar mi nuevo sello de Michael Strong "Cloissone Fan" y este es el resultado. El sello está en relieve y lo he coloreado con tinta distress y pincel de agua. La tarjeta es para una compañera que cumple años la próxima semana. Espero que le guste.

I recently bought Cloissone Fan Stamp by Michael Strong. I made this card for a co-worker's birthday next week. I embossed the stamp and coloured it with distress inks and a watercolour pencil. Thanks for your visit.

Find your way

Recordáis esta ATC de Marta? Pues esta es la página acabada.
Los papeles y la flor son de Rusty Pickle. Los chipboard de Basic Grey, están cubiertos con papel de encuadernar de Bomo Art. En la cartulina base lleva maya mist.
La foto de la "señorita" está retocada en photoshop. Básicamente la he virado a sepia y he difuminado el fondo, dando más nitidez al rostro. Me gusta mucho el aire de "sueño" que le ha dado.

Do you remember this ATC? Well this is the final layout.
Papers and flower are from Rusty Pickle. Basic Grey chipboard letters are covered with Bomo Art paper. The kraft base cardstock has Maya mist.
I retouched the main image in Photoshop. I mainly applied a sepia tone and I blurred the background and sharpened her face. I like the dreamy look of it.

Clasificador de Fuelle alterado - Altered Expanding Folder

Ya he terminado el clasificador para el profesor de violonchelo.
Para resaltar más el instrumento sobre el collage de fondo, pinté con acrílicas sobre el papel.
El violonchello está envejecido con tinta distress. Para proteger la imagen he usado cola blanca.

I've just finished the expanding folder for the cello's teacher.
I covered a part of the collage to place the image of the cello and make it pop up.
I used distress inks to age the image and mod podge to protect it.


La cita (mi interpretación) es del violonchelista catalán Pau Casals.
The quote is from Pau Casals, a famous spanish cellist and it says: "Music is the divine way to tell beautiful, poetic things to the heart"

Para presentar la carpeta, he forrado una caja de carpetas colgantes "gentilmente donada" por el curro (ya estaba casi vacía) :)

El papel es de nuevo de Bomo Art (Budapest) y es un collage de cartas y tarjetas postales precioso.

I used an old box for wrapping the folder.

The paper is again from Bomo Art (Budapest) and it's a beautiful collage of letters and postal cards.

Para ayudar a abrir la caja, he incluido un botón de los de trenka, y que al tirar, empuja la tapa hacia arriba

To open the box, I adhered a button to the lid. When you pull it up, the box opens

Transfer with clear tape. You've seen some other similar tutorials. This is my version.

Materiales:
Cinta de embalar transparente.
Una hoja de un libro viejo o periódico.
Agua
Cartón para la base. En mi caso, he utilizado uno de los restos del papel que "gesseé" (madre que patada a la RAE) con Ana.

Materials:
Clear Tape
A page from an old book or newspaper.
Water
Base cardstock . What I use here is a scrap of a "gessoed" cardstock from a previous project.

Cortamos un trozo de cinta y pegamos a la hoja del libro. Dependerá del grosor de la página lo que tengamos que apretar. Se trata de que al despegar la cinta nos llevemos pegada una capa de la página con el texto.

Cut and stick a piece of tape over the page. The pressure you must apply depends on the thickness of the paper.
What we want here is to stick on the tape only one layer of the page, the one with the text.

Humedecemos la parte del papel

Wet the side of the paper

Frotar el papel hasta que quede visible nada más que el texto.

And start rubbing until only the letters remain in the tape

La cinta aun permanece un poco pegajosa. Lo suficiente para adherirse a nuestra cartulina base.

The tape will already remain a bit sticky. Just enough to adhere to the cardstock.

Finde productivo

El sábado tuve una clase particular con la Sita Ana Apple.
Me perdí las dos últimas y le pedí (exigí, más bien) que me contara cómo gesseaba ella.
Así que nos pusimos manos a la obra y este es el resultado. Estoy haciendo una página 30x30 con él. Bueno, en realidad es la mitad del resultado, porque lo que falta lo he cortado para hacer unas ATCs que os enseñaré luego.
El sello de las casitas me ha gustado tanto, que ya lo he encargado :)

Pues os chincháis porque el libro de deseos es mío. Me lo ha hecho la sita Ana Apple sólo para mí.
Me dijo que haría algo a "mi estilo" y ha acertado de pleno. Claro, que en el camino se ha dejado la cuchilla del "distresseador" de Tim Holtz.

Esta chica es un encanto :) Me ha mandado también un fondo hecho con papel de aluminio y su cuttlebug y unas cuantas palabras para "distressear"
